Update on Our Journey

by Jacqueline Munder

May was probably the hardest month since we started this adventure.

It felt like one loss after another:

  • Lost iPhone

  • Two batteries failed
  • Engine propeller issues
  • Starlink quit working

  • Boat ran aground

  • Lost our first dinghy

  • Lost our car key in the water

  • Car broke down

  • Lost our second dinghy

Honestly, we felt overwhelmed.

Charleston was challenging too. It’s a huge harbor, everything felt far away, and the sport fishing boats were constantly flying by with big wakes. Some passed surprisingly close to us. I jokingly started calling it the “Wild East.” 🤣

As the challenges piled up, fear started creeping in. Our faith was being tested, and our morale was low.

I learned it’s easy to trust God when life is going well. Hard times reveal what’s really in our hearts.

When our boat ran aground, I prayed and felt helpless. Then a nearby boater came over, helped us call TowBoatUS, and paid for the tow himself.
“It’s on me,” he said.
God provided.

Then we lost our second dinghy. We tried to save it, but it was gone.

That same evening, we sailed into Wrightsville Beach at sunset. For the first time in days, I stopped looking at the problems and looked up.

The sky was beautiful.

I was reminded why we chose this journey.

May tested us. It stretched us. It humbled us.

But through every setback, God has never failed us.
Not once.

Keep trusting. Keep enduring. Don’t give up. ❤️
